Their Dance

Their Dance

They bounced and played along the crest of blue and silver crashes
The sunlight softly split the space between their longest lashes.
Eyes so bright and winking like some princesses sapphire gem.
With a light that outward shines glowing from inside of them.

All the vows that will be required not yet having been bestowed
A future full of promise for something borrowed, something owed.
They have no care but to hunt for shells on endless beaches by the sea.
Until such time, they are in need, and come running back to me.

The trees are bleached from years of earth turning under sky
The bone yard will remain here when this life has long gone by
Yet these two turn in smaller circles, no trace of worry in their laughter
A lesson for what’s truly meant by happy-ever-after.

This day no mark is meant to tally, for there is no keeping score
The treasure that is collected here will not be used for something more
Just a picture perfect moment, in time a tiny grain of sand.
Their dance, a wink of sparkling light, on life’s eternal land.
