Glacier

Glacier

My heart is a glacier.
Frozen over by an environment void of heat for so very long.
The movement within is so slow it is almost undetectable.
Yet fractions of degrees can make all the difference.
The lingering effects leaving lasting impressions,
Deep chasms carved through the mountains of my life.
Slowly comes the thaw, merely seconds of eternity.
Water flowing in its purest form, no need to lead it just knows.
It collects in hidden valleys between the peaks
And creates a mirror for all the unbridled beauty that surrounds it
This reflection knows no rival and has no end.
Now at last only snow remains,
A thin covering of white, pink in hue
As the living flesh beneath is revealed.
